How Time Clock Works with Shift Planner

Time Clock and Shift Planner work together to support accurate attendance tracking based on employee shift assignments. With the latest improvements, Time Clock can use custom shifts created in Shift Planner instead of the employee’s standard Work Schedule when determining the applicable shift. Time Clock also includes improved attendance handling for overnight shifts.

 Custom Shifts and Work Schedules

Employees may have regular working hours defined through Work Schedules. However, an employee may occasionally need a different shift assignment. When a custom shift is created in Shift Planner, it can override the standard Work Schedule for Time Clock attendance tracking. This allows attendance to reflect the employee’s assigned shift rather than relying exclusively on their regular working schedule.

Example

An employee normally works from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM but is assigned a custom shift from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Time Clock uses the custom shift instead of the standard Work Schedule for the applicable attendance calculation.

Overnight Shift Attendance

Time Clock also supports improved attendance-day handling for shifts that extend past midnight. For example, an employee may start a shift at 10:00 PM and finish at 6:00 AM the following morning. The updated attendance logic is designed to handle these overnight shifts more accurately when determining the applicable attendance day.

How to Review Shift-Based Attendance
  1. Open Shift Planner.
  2. Review the employee’s assigned shifts.
  3. Identify whether the employee has a custom shift or a regular Work Schedule assignment.
  4. Open Time Clock.
  5. Review the employee’s attendance records for the relevant dates.
  6. Check the recorded attendance against the assigned shift.
