What is Workmates Chat?
This article will explain an additional way how to communicate with Workmates through the Chat feature.
Enabling the Chat feature allows your employees to communicate seamlessly through the app. To start chatting with colleagues, follow these steps:
- Click on the Chat option in the main sidebar.
- Click the blue New Message button.
- Add participants by selecting them from the dropdown menu (to remove someone, click the X next to their name).
- Compose your message, attach any files or GIFs as needed, and click the blue arrow to send it.
- If necessary, you can delete your message for everyone or just for yourself (if sent by a different participant). To do this, click the three dots next to the message and select Delete.
To delete the entire conversation, click the three dots in the upper-right corner of the chat and choose Delete Message.
As a participant, you can leave the group, but group owners have the ability to add or remove participants, rename the chat, and view full group details, though they cannot leave the group.
Note: If the conversation was initially started as a one-on-one chat, users will not be able to add participants or turn it into a group chat.
To search for specific messages or participants, use the Search bar located above the chat history on the left.
If you need to archive a chat conversation, you can do that by:
- Clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner of the conversation and choosing Archive Message
- This conversation will then be visible when filtering the conversations via the Filter Icon next to the search bar
