How to create a Channel?
This article explains how to create a new channel.
Channels are created to publish posts for a limited audience. They can be created for employees on the basis of their locations, areas of interest, company divisions etc.
To create a new channel,
- Click on Channels on the Workmates dashboard.
- Click the +Create Channel button on the top right of the page.
- Enter the details of the new channel to be created.
- Channel Name - Name for the channel
- Channel Type - Select a type/privacy for the channel ( Open/Closed/Secret Channel)
- Channel Members - Pick members of the channel manually or add criteria which will add members with respect to defined criteria
- Click the Save button.
Under each channel, there are additional Settings that can be adjusted.
One of them is Assignment Rules where you can:
1. Check and change eligibility criteria
2. Decide on whom you want to apply updated assignment rules:
- All employees
Whenever there is a new hire that meets assignment criteria for the Open and Closed channels, he will be added automatically. - Only future ones
Current members will remain the same but from now on, new channel members will be added based on the updated assignment rules.
Whenever an existing employee no longer meets the channel assignment criteria, the channel owner/admin will receive an email notification asking to confirm removing of that employee from that specific channel.
